Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette
Hope you had a great weekend 🙂
Soooooo….I totally couldn’t resist the newest Kat Von D eyeshadow palette the Serpentina.
Just the name alone … right!?
So lets get down to the nitty gritty.
This palette contains 8 jeweled toned eyeshadows and a gold loose pigment. This is a limited Edition palette that retails for $45.00
It is inspired by the essence of Egypt. The packaging is black with gold. While it is bulky it works. I feel for a presentation like this, Kat needed to go with the boxy style.
There is a good quality mirror inside the palette. Which is constructed of a quality cardboard.
Now lets talk about the shades
Bloodmilk – matte – medium-dark red
Medusa – pearly sheen – medium-dark antique gold
Ankh – micro shimmer – blackened brown with bronze
Queen – pearly – medium-dark burgundy
Hieroglyph – metallic finish – orange-copper
Nile – satin sheen – medium-dark cool tone blue (my favorite color of the palette)
Scarab – frosted – medium-dark cool tone green
Venom – matte – medium-dark purple
Prophet – metallic – is a medium-dark green tinted gold ( like an old gold shade )
Lets discuss the overall performance and quality
Firstly the colors in this palette are all very beautiful and can work with a lot of different skin tones.
This palette will most certainly need traditional transition shades, but who doesn’t already have a ton of those, right?
The two matte shades Bloodmilk and Venom were the two I found to be less than great. Took a little building up but not horrible to the point where it takes away from the palette. The rest of shaded were very pigmented and went on both swatches and lids smoothly.
For the Loose Pigment Prophet Wow! What a great pigment! It was very pigmented when I applied it dry, so of course I went ahead and applied it wet and that just took things to an entire next level of beautifulness.
Overall this palette contains beautiful shades and are excellent overall quality. Working with the shadows I had minimal fall out.
Exactly what we’ve come to expect and love from Kat Von D Beauty products. Although you will need a separate palette/shadows for transition and brow bone highlight its still a palette I see myself using more and more.
Let me know what you think of the shadows and how they perform in my tutorial.
